Audio Visual Services is responsible for:

  • Maintenance of the vast array of audio visual technologies in all centrally-bookable teaching spaces across UC
  • Configuration and testing of teaching space audio visual technologies to ensure seemless and high quality outputs that support teaching delivery and student learning
  • Rapid response to audio visual technology issues in centrally-bookable teaching spaces
  • Advising teaching and support staff on options and requirements when considering teaching technology use
  • Management of specific configuration requests and additional booking requests for Semi-Automated Lecture Capture
  • Management of Manual Lecture Capture requests, bookings, staffing, scheduling and necessary technology
  • Management, conversion and upload of Manual Lecture Capture recordings to servers for teaching staff and student use
  • On-the-day transportation, set up, configuration, testing, briefing and pack up of audio visual technologies for specific events e.g. UC Careers Fairs, international engagement events, bi-cultural events, management and leadership meetings, teaching week events, UC Possibilities, Discovery Day, other schools engagement events, departmental-specific professional development events, and much more
  • The design and incremental improvement of audio visual technologies in newly constructed and refurbished teaching spaces
  • Repair and testing of out-of-service or unreliable equipment and technologies
  • Managing the procurement of audio visual technologies and support
  • Advice and recommendations to academic departments and service providers on audio visual design and procurement
  • The design, development and maintenance of online learning resources for teaching staff on the effective use of teaching space technologies
  • Familiarisation and training of teaching staff in the use of teaching-space audio visual technologies
  • Communication to teaching and support staff of their responsibilities regarding the use of audio visual technologies
  • Investigation and testing of emerging, new and more cost effective technologies entering the market place
  • Management of pre-booked equipment from its loan pool, for use in teaching spaces by teaching staff
  • Management of pre-booking of video conferencing facilities
  • Co-ordinating and managing a number of casual highly-skilled staff delivering Manual Lecture Capture for UC courses
  • Advising on and conducting, where possible, the transfer of audio visual data from one format to another
  • Decommissioning of end-of-life equipment and technologies
  • Maintaining, sharing and upskilling the vast knowledge and experience base within our most vital asset - our dedicated staff
